As part of its effort to grow the pool of early childhood professionals, the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) has been giving out scholarships and training awards since 2013 to students and professionals in this field, to enable them to have good career opportunities and fulfil their aspirations. In addition, funds are set aside for award recipients to pursue professional development programmes.
Below are the four categories of awards:
ECDA Training Award (ITE)
This new award, announced last year, is for ITE students in the Higher NiTEC in Early Childhood Education (ECE) programmes. Total value of award (for two-year course) is estimated at S$16,300.
ECDA Training Award (Polytechnic)
This award is for students in the full-time Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) diploma course at either Ngee Ann Polytechnic or Temasek Polytechnic. Total value of award (for three-year course) is estimated at S$40,050.
ECDA Scholarships and Teaching Awards
This is offered to outstanding and deserving early childhood professionals who wish to pursue a Bachelor or Master degree in ECCE to enhance their pedagogical practice as well as hone leadership competencies.
ECDA Sponsorships for Diploma Programmes
This is offered to existing and aspiring early childhood educators who are interested in pursuing training in ECCE on a part-time basis at local institutions.
