DSTA Scholarships are awarded to talented individuals who demonstrate a passion for science and technology.
They are for junior college and polytechnic or equivalent graduates as well as university undergraduates seeking a tertiary education and aspiring towards an exciting career in the Defence Technology community.
In addition, we award scholarships to exceptional first-year junior college or equivalent science students with the passion to contribute to defence science and technology.
We offer the following scholarships:
- DSTA Scholarship
- DSTA Junior College Scholarship
These scholarships will lead to diverse career opportunities in organisations such as Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), DSO National Laboratories (DSO) as well as Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies (CSIT). DSTA Junior College Scholarship
Create your future in Science and Technology with the DSTA Junior College Scholarship.

The DSTA Junior College Scholarship is open to first-year Junior College or equivalent Integrated Programme (IP) students in the Science stream.
Value of Award
DSTA Scholarship
For DSTA Scholars Studying in Singapore:
- Tuition and hostel fees
- Annual and other allowances including computer, settling-in, etc
- Sponsorship for approved Masters Programme (within stipulated sponsorship period)
- Overseas Student Exchange programme
- Mid-course internship programme
- Opportunity for Global Internship Programme (GIP)
For DSTA Scholars Studying in Overseas Universities:
- Tuition fees
- Overseas maintenance and other allowances including computer, settling-in, warm clothing, etc
- Sponsorship for approved Masters Programme (within stipulated sponsorship period)
- Student Exchange programme
- Mid-course internship programme
- Opportunity for Global Internship Programme (GIP)
* Full sponsorship from point of award, and back payment of university tuition fees for scholarship holders awarded during undergraduate studies.
DSTA Junior College Scholarship
- Scholarship award of S$2,000, subject to continued academic excellence*
- Award holder will be provided with an opportunity to learn about defence technology by participating in a programme or activity (e.g. Internship^, student visits, camps, workshops or lectures) with the Defence Technology Community
* The award recipient will receive S$1,000 in the year of award. Continuation of award in the 2nd year is subjected to excellent academic performance in his/her JC1 promotional examinations, upon which he/she will receive another S$1,000.
^ Includes school-based internships where the award recipient can choose to work on DSTA or DSO sponsored research or projects.
Bond Requirements
DSTA Scholarship
For undergraduate study in English-speaking countries: 6 years
For undergraduate study in non-English speaking countries: 5 years
For undergraduate study in Singapore: 4 years
DSTA Junior College Scholarship
This award carries no bond.
Application Criteria & Procedures
DSTA Scholarship
Eligbility:
- Singapore Citizen (Singapore Permanent Residents are required to take up Singapore Citizenship)
- Excellent GCE ‘A'’ Level or equivalent qualifications (e.g. International Baccalaureate, NUS High School Diploma), or Polytechnic Diploma
- Outstanding co-curricular activities record
- Passion for science and technology
DSTA Junior College Scholarship
Eligbility:
- Singapore Citizen
- Excellent results, with an aggregate of not more than 8 points for first language and 5 relevant subjects for those doing GCE ‘O’ Level
- Studying in science stream with a keen interest in Physics / Mathematics
- Interest to explore Defence Engineering or Defence Research as a career
