Hwa Chong has unveiled two new blocks during the Official Opening of its HCIS Main Building to harness new innovative teaching facilities and foster collaborative learning between disciplines. This building expansion project is a joint development by the Board of Directors of the Singapore Chinese High School, Hwa Chong Alumni Association and Hwa Chong International School.
Besides housing a state-of-the-art Hwa Chong Cultural Centre (HCCC) Theatre with built-in dolby 7.1 channel stunning sound system, the new block also has an Indoor Sports Hall which is the size of eight badminton courts to accommodate a wide range of sports activities from elite athlete training to recreational use.
Mr Koh Chin Nguang, Principal of Hwa Chong International School (HCIS), said that the S$36 million building expansion project allows the school to expose students to a repertoire of exciting and innovative learning activities to facilitate growth and learning. With a seating capacity of 680, the new HCCC Theatre also enchances the arts experience of students and teachers.
Founded in 2005, HCIS offers the Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Students, under the guidance of the school have achieved much, developing themselves through competitions at both the local and international arena, or in their academic development and scholastic achievements, as well as admission to well-known universities around the world.
