If your child requires support for certain development areas, you may wish to approach the SPD for assistance.
One of the programmes it offers is the Development Support Programme (DSP), an initiative by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) to provide on-site intervention and learning support to pre-schoolers with mild developmental needs in mainstream kindergartens and childcare centres.
The DSP aims to support the following skills development areas:
- Speech and Language
- Fine motor and handwriting
- Gross motor and coordination
- Attention and concentration
- Learning and literacy
- Social and emotional
The DSP team of speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, learning support facilitators, educational psychologists, learning support educators and social workers operates from [email protected] and [email protected]
Parents who are interested can approach their respective pre-school or contact the SPD centres for more information. Fees are determined by the MSF Means Testing, hence caregivers are required to submit the following prior to admission:
- child’s birth certificate and an identity card-sized photo
